Away From Home
Jon N. DaviesAway From Home is the fifth book in the Magnum Opus series, and chronicles my time away from Peterborough, whilst it remained the family home. As such, the first instance is the few weeks around Easter 1992 when I returned to New Halls, Royal Holloway College, to work in hospitality etc for the final time. The memoir then covers my move to Leeds, starting with preparations in the Summer of 1993, and then the move in the early Autumn. Mum's diaries are the main narrative sources, so record when I wrote or phoned, or they phoned me, since the house I was living in at Troy Hill, Horsforth, for once had a telephone. They also record my visits to relatives, mainly in Staffordshire, and my visits home. These of course are enhanced with photographs, both those I took and those taken by Mum and Dad. And sections on my Memories finish this year of my life off.
