1987

1987 pieces together the year from surviving sources - 3 volumes of my diary journal, dad's logbook, some poems, lots of photographs etc. The aim is to cover the year as fully as possible, filling in any evidential gaps with memories. It was the year I was finishing in the Lower Sixth, and after the Summer starting in the Upper Sixth. Holidays included our first return to Spain in a decade, a Welsh odyssey my sister and I got to choose, and a second year motorhoming in France, this time down the Biscay coast. I did another fortnight of work in the Summer at the warehouse my Dad managed, and at every opportunity expanded my growing record collection, as did my sister hers. Perhaps nothing monumental happened in this year, and I certainly do not remember it as fondly as I do 1986, which for many reasons was a stand-out year, but 1987 is history and deserves to be preserved and remembered.
