The Middle Years

The Middle Years fills in the gap between "The First Year", looking at my first year at secondary school, and 1985, the first of the year-only books. It thus covers Autumn 1982 to Christmas 1984. A lot of the material can be found in 'Childhood of Dreams', the narrative of our holidays in the motorhome, and indeed in this period no holidays outside of the motorhome are recalled or remembered, other than visits to grandparents. Overviews of my 2nd, 3rd and 4th years at secondary school are offered, but in no great detail, as there is almost no primary sources, apart from the photographs from the school holiday to Paris at Easter 1984. The relevant birthdays or myself and my sister, as well as the Christmases that fall inside the narrative period ae covered, as is the fire at Westgate Church, Peterborough in May 1983, and the period of exile at Saint Luke's before we marched back to the repaired and restored Westgate at Easter 1984.
